Scarlett Johansson, who has been called “Sexiest Woman Alive” and “Sexiest Celebrity” in recent years, has no plans to get knocked up just yet. The Lost in Translation actress wed Blade actor Ryan Reynolds in a clandestine ceremony last September. Despite the seeming hastiness of their decision to tie the knot, Johansson claims that she is much too young to start making any babies with him, opting instead to continue her focus on her acting career.
“I’m 24 years old!” she said. “I’ve got a lot of time for that. I love to work and I’m enjoying myself right now.” She does feel certain, however, that she would become a mother herself in due time. Not any time in the immediate future, but most certainly somewhere down the line with Ryan. In a recent interview with US television show Entertainment Tonight, she adds, “Someday in the distant future I’m sure I’ll want to enjoy that part of my life. But I’m not ready for that yet.”
Nonetheless, Johansson has had enough of a history changing her mind in terms of career plans. She may sound adamant about a particular choice for her private life at one moment, and then completely disregard it in the next.
She and Reynolds, who used to date and had been engaged to Canadian rocker Alanis Morissette, got themselves engaged last May. At the time of the engagement, Scarlett was very vocal to the press about not going down the aisle just yet.
She had announced: “We’re just enjoying our time. We are just recently - very recently - engaged. So we are just taking it easy. And there is no big plan yet.
“I mean, I’m 23. There is no reason to rush into it. Everything feels very natural and relaxed.”
Before any of this, Johansson used to speak up in public about her ideas on marriage, which used to be fraught with apprehension. She believed that the nature of human beings and the concept of monogamy don’t really go hand in hand. She did, however, claim that, when in a relationship, she still works hard “to make it work in a monogamous way.”
