On Tuesday night (February 21), the 2012 BRIT Awards have named the year’s big winners during an exciting O2 Arena ceremony in London, England.

Taking home the top prize of Best British album and a total of two trophies was Adele, while other big winners included the Coldplay as Best British group, Ed Sheernan as Best British Male/British Breakthrough Act and One Direction landing Best Single for their track titled “What Makes You Beautiful”.

With viewers being led through the crowning of category picks by host James Corden, fans were also treated to dazzling performances by the likes of Coldplay, Rihanna, Florence + The Machine, Bruno Mars, Adele and closing act Blur.

Remembering the fallen music icons, the ceremony featured tributes to Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse (watch below) while Emeli Sande nabbed Critics’ Choice honors.

LIVE, the LL Cool J hosted ceremony saw Kanye West top the pack with seven chances at Grammy glory while British singer Adele scored six nominations in categories including Song of the Year, Record of the Year and the grand prize of Album of the Year for her heralded disc “21″.

Other top nominees lining the 78 categories going into the 2012 Grammy awards include Lady Gaga, Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry.

On Wednesday (November 30), Rihanna was spotted shooting scenes for “You Da One” in London. The “S&M” songstress worked her magic in ripped denim hot pants and a white vest with a blonde wig as she danced through a raunchy routine.

In record sales news, Ri-Ri’s latest album Talk That Talk entered the Billboard 200 album chart at #3 with over 197,000 copies sold in its first week. Talk That Talk marks Rihanna’s sixth top 10 debut and second biggest week since her album Loud scored 207,000 units last November.

The “Umbrella” babe, whose new album Rated R hits stores and online retailers today, is being cited as one of the main reasons ABC garnered 14.2 million viewers, up 2 million from last year’s show.
